Horny toads, or horned frogs, are actually lizards. Nick-named due to their short squatty body, horned lizards can be found most notably in the southwest from Texas to California, and as far north as Canada and far south well into Mexico. There are many species of horny toads including 9 that live in the U.S. The photo above depicts our state reptile - the Texas Horned Lizard.
